Winters Chapel Path Phase II Open House: Feb 12th 5-7 pm

The City of Dunwoody, in partnership with Peachtree Corners, will look for feedback on proposed pedestrian and bicycle mobility improvements by adding a shared-use path along Winters Chapel Road.

Phase II of the Winters Chapel Road Path would run 0.6 miles, starting at the Peeler Road intersection and connecting to the existing path at Charmant Place. The route begins and ends in Dunwoody, with a short segment passing through Peachtree Corners. It would connect the Winters Chapel Path Phase I project completed in 2023 to the future Peeler Path.

This project has been years in the making. First identified in the 2015 Winters Chapel Road Area Study, it was later included in Dunwoody’s 2017 Comprehensive Transportation Plan Update and reaffirmed in the 2023 Dunwoody Trail Master Plan.

In addition to the creation of the path, the proposed project includes intersection improvements. At the Peeler Road intersection, the current southbound slip lane from Winters Chapel Road would be closed to create a traditional right turn at the signal, slowing down traffic and improving safety for pedestrians.

At Sumac Drive, a new signalized intersection would allow for a protected pedestrian crossing to the path. Improved lighting, curbs, and landscaping are also included in the plans.

Community members are encouraged to learn more and share their thoughts at a Public Information Open House on Thursday, Feb. 12, from 5–7 p.m. at Winters Chapel United Methodist Church (5105 Winters Chapel Rd.).

We expect the city to create a way to provide feedback online if you cannot attend in-person. Once that is advertised, we will update this webpage and the Facebook event with those details.
