February, 2016 Update:
Through the Atlanta Regional Commission Livable Centers Initiative program, this project was awarded $3.8M as the “DeKalb County – Construction of sidewalks and trails connecting Medical Center and Dunwoody MARTA stations”
Per our contact at the ARC, “This is a partnership with the Perimeter Community Improvement District, the cities of Dunwoody, Sandy Springs, Brookhaven and MARTA. MARTA will be serving as the grantee since the funds will be transferred from the Federal Highway Administration to the Federal Transit Administration for this project. However, PCID will manage the design consultant and oversee the day-to-day planning/design process on behalf of the cities and MARTA. PCID is paying the local match. The Cities will need to provide MARTA with permits to conduct any work on its ROW.”

Could Peachtree-Dunwoody along the underpass of I-285 have something like the above picture in the near future?
At the present, there are several issues as the area was developed with the single focus of moving around in a motor vehicle.
The Perimeter Community Improvement Districts is proposing several enhancements for the safety of persons moving on foot or by a bicycle along Lake Hearn, Peachtree-Dunwoody (between Lake Hearn & Hammond Drive), Hammond Drive and Perimeter Summit Parkway.
