Dunwoody’s New Mayor: Denis Shortal

Dunwoody Bike to Lunch Day - 2013

Dunwoody voted last night and come January, we’ll have a new mayor, Denis Shortal.

We want to thank our outgoing mayor, Mike Davis for his support over the past four years in progressing our city to become more walk & bike-friendly. We also want to congratulate incoming mayor, Denis Shortal who has served on our city council since our incorporation in 2008. Denny is on record as being a strong supporter of Complete Streets and was one of the first voices on council to ask about putting bike lanes on Chamblee-Dunwoody, which is scheduled to be constructed in 2016.

Its bittersweet to see this transition, and we wish mayor Davis well.

The photo above is from May, 2013 when we sponsored a bike to lunch day during the annual Bike Month activities. Can you spot both mayor Davis & mayor-elect Shortal in the photo? Look closely. They’re both in there. And both rode their bikes together to lunch that day.

We optimistically look forward to more opportunities like this in the future, as we build out a connected network of trails, bike lanes and sidewalks; improving the quality of life for our residents and guests, increasing property values and “Connecting our Community”.
